MSAA Hosts 2024 Summer Institute

The Massachusetts School Administrators' Association hosted its annual three-day Summer Institute from July 24-26 at The 1620 Hotel in Plymouth.

The annual event offers nationally recognized speakers, topical workshops presented by active practicing colleagues, presentations and awards, prizes, social activities, family events, and more.

Highlighting this year's event were a pair of Keynote Speakers ... Dr. Kalise Wornum, and Dr. Salome Thomas-EL.

The Guest Speaker on the final day of the event was Norm Bossio.

The MSAA also recognized its five 2024 recipients of the Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year awards: 

  • Elementary Principal of the Year: Brenda Kelly, Morris Elementary School, Lenox
  • Middle School Principal of the Year: William Fish, Pierce Middle School, Milton
  • High School Principal of the Year: Andrew Rebello, Diman Regional Vocational Technical HS, Fall River 
  • Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year: Robert Bielawa, Henri A. Yelle Elementary School, Norton
  • Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year: Nicole Manning, West Springfield Middle School

In advance of the event, the following 2024 Summer Institute pre-conference workshops also were held:

  • Components of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports and the Role of a Student Success Team: How Do Both Plans Impact Teaching and Learning? Presented by Curtis Bates, Seaside Consultants
  • School Discipline and the Law. Presented by Catherine Lyons, Lyons Law Group, LLC
  • Doing Discipline Differently: How to Respond to Student Misbehavior and the Whys Percolating at or Below the Surface. Presented by Karen Gross, MASCA, Educator and Author
  • Unlocking Potential: Demystifying and Utilizing AI in Your School. Presented by Dr. Michael Rubin, Principal, Uxbridge High School
