Massachusetts School Administrators' Association

MSAA Summer Institute

Summer Institute

One of the most anticipated events for our MSAA membership is the Summer Institute, held each year in late July.

The event offers nationally recognized speakers, topical workshops presented by active practicing colleagues, presentations and awards, prizes, social activities, family events, and more. The biggest reason to attend is the camaraderie, sharing, and fun generated when talented and experienced school administrators gather to network.

Summer Institute is a great way to get excited and prepared for the new school year!

New and aspiring administrators are encouraged to attend!

Speakers

  • Norm Bossio has spoken in front of nearly 3 million audience members for over 30 years! He has been a teacher, superintendent and principal. Having keynoted national conferences in virtually every major industry, Norm's audiences have included clients ranging from presidents to authors to principals. Norm will ensure you leave the conference inspired and motivated to start the new school year. As a former principal and lifelong educator, Norm “gets it” and will be a perfect way to close out the 2024 Summer Institute.
  • Dr. Kalise Wornum is a nationally sought-after keynote speaker, educational leader, workshop facilitator, and author in the area of anti-racist education and cultural proficiency. Born in Boston, Kalise’s dedication to confronting racism in the classroom began early in her education as a student in the METCO Program – a state-funded, voluntary desegregation program in Massachusetts. Her minority experience, both the beauty and complexities of academic success in a predominantly white suburban school system, fostered in Kalise a desire to train students, teachers, and school administrators about the need for representation and cultural competency in the classroom. Kalise continues to use her experience as a graduate from the Lexington Public Schools to inform her spoken presentations and written materials for the courses and workshops she offers.
  • Dr. Salome Thomas-EL has been a teacher and principal since 1987. He is currently a K-8 Principal in Wilmington, DE and received national acclaim as a teacher and chess coach at Vaux Middle School in Philadelphia, where his students have gone on to win world recognition as Eight-Time National Chess Champions. Principal EL is the author of the best-selling books, I Choose to Stay (Movie rights optioned by Disney Films), and The Immortality of Influence, which stresses the importance of leadership, mentoring, parenting and service to others. He is also the co-author of 3 new books, Passionate Leadership, Building a Winning Team, and Retention for a Change. Dr. EL speaks to groups around the country and frequently appears on C-SPAN, CNN, and NPR Radio.
