So often, people panic at the last minute because they missed something important along the way. They then need to scramble to pull it all together. Being thoughtful in planning can help alleviate these moments of panic and help your activities and events run so much smoother. This workshop will give you some ideas on how to help your council run a seamless event.

Student Council State Officer Candidates
The nomination for the 2025-26 MASC State Officer positions is now open. Student candidates interested in running for a state office should be aware of the responsibilities associated with a position on the MASC Executive Board (see below). Interested student candidates must submit nomination information by Friday, December 13.
*Please note - candidates must attend schools that have registered Student Council as an MSAA Student Activity. In addition, candidates must have the full support of their principal, student council advisor, parents/guardians, and council members.
Offices and Duties:
- The PRESIDENT shall:
- Be an official student representative of the MASC
- Preside over MASC Executive Board meetings and activities
- Carry out the duties delegated by the Executive Board
- Present an annual report at the MASC Annual Conference
- The VICE PRESIDENT shall:
- Assume all duties of the President in the event they are unable to fulfill the office
- Work with the president and accept duties delegated by the Executive Board
- The SECRETARY shall:
- Keep accurate minutes of meetings and distribute them to members of the Executive Board
- Conduct all MASC correspondence

Awards
MSAA recognizes excellence in student council activities through various awards. 2024-25 nomination information coming soon.
Administrator of the Year Award
This award is presented to one school administrator in recognition of outstanding support for student council activities.
Henry Sullivan Advisor of the Year Award
This award is presented to one student council advisor in recognition of a commitment to excellence and service to young people in their school.
Top Ten Project Awards
These awards are presented to ten student councils who have submitted one of the ten most outstanding projects during the school year.
Unsung Hero Awards
These awards are presented to one student council member from each region of the state who goes above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis with little or no recognition.
James Rokas Awards
These awards recognize individual students for both achievement and potential in their student leadership experiences, and are presented to one student from each region.
Council of Excellence Awards
These awards are designed to recognize and reward the achievements of outstanding student councils and provide standards of effective student leadership.
