A Realistic Look at Reducing Bullying 
 and Social Conflicts in Schools 

This workshop will explore behaviors that constitute bullying and behaviors that are not considered bullying. Several case studies will be examined along with the latest research. Educators will share how to reduce the incidences of bullying and what to do when bullying and/or social conflicts occur. The tenants of a social-behavior diversionary program will be discussed and how to immediately set-up a diversionary program in your school.

Participants will:  

·         Establish plans to build a school-wide culture that reduces bullying

·         Decide how to best institute a Social-Behavior Diversionary Program

to support students

·         Discover what bullying is and what is not bullying

·         Compare several Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plans

·         Explore several case studies and then role-play as the decision-maker

in each case

Tom Brow, an educational consultant, instructional coach, former teacher, high school social studies department head, and middle school principal for many years, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a Master’s Degree in Community Education and a C.A.G.S Degree in Administration. Tom presented bi-monthly workshops at an annual PreK-12 induction program for well over a decade and has coached teachers and administrators. He has earned numerous marks of recognition from the local Excellence in Education Award, Middlesex District Attorney’s Citizenship in Action Award, to co-runner up Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Award. His vast experience in middle school education both in classroom instruction and supervision, his love of skillful teaching and learning, and his enthusiasm is evident at all his workshops.
