MSAA Professional Development Workshop for School Administrators, Classroom Teachers, Department Heads, and Instructional Coaches

LevelED-Up Learners: Using Executive Function Skills to Support All Learners

When we understand executive function skills and how this impacts learning, we can assess individual strengths and create classrooms that meet the needs of all diverse learners to maximize student engagement. The foundation of this workshop is the latest research on best practices for executive function. The workshop will include time for participants to plan how to apply this approach in their current setting and create a classroom that celebrates and encourages diverse learning styles.

Participants will:

·         Develop an understanding of the relationship between executive function skills and a learning-inclusive classroom, including the role that individual learner assessments and systems play in creating a classroom that levels up learning, engagement, and productivity.

·         Using the “LevelED Up Learners Approach” learn how to design high-quality learning profile assessments for their grade level using an array of tools and strategies.

·         Practice how to assess learning styles while engaging in their own learner profile assessments and activities. In this session, educators will also learn how to make lessons accessible for all learners with tangible strategies based on learner profile data.

·         Engage in various activities that incorporate identifying their individual learning styles, creating age-appropriate learner profile assessments, and learning ways to facilitate thoughtful discussion around the unique ways everyone learns.
