Creating Equity through Positive Relationships

Join educators and equity practitioners Vilenti Tulloch and Dr. Timothy Allen as they introduce multiple concepts and strategies that are essential to educators as they form relationships with students of color. An introduction to unconscious bias, providing tough love, being a warm demander, practicing deep listening, and creating a third space will be discussed.

Participants will:

·         Develop both self-awareness and the ability to form deep connections with students from different cultural contexts 

·         Learn strategies that will apply to: students in grades K-12; public and private school contexts: schools with high or low levels of diversity

When: Friday, January 31, 2025, from 8:30 am to 11:30 am

Vilenti Tulloch | Academic Leadership Association
Vilenti Tulloch, winner of numerous awards that include an NAACP award for his community service and Business West 40 under 40 for his entrepreneurial efforts. He is the CEO of the Academic Leadership Association (ALA), a school-based mentoring and leadership program whose mission is to empower youth to make positive changes within themselves and their school community through mentoring, leadership, and advocacy. In his role, Vilenti trains mentors, leads school based mentoring, and provides professional development programs to multiple school districts in Western Massachusetts.
Vilenti serves as the Co-Founder of the Academic Leadership Association of Greater Springfield, a non-profit organization that offers summer enrichment camps and programming, after school programming, and community engaging field trips free to youth in the middle school empowerment zones in the Greater Springfield area. Vilenti is the President of The Forum, an organization complete with black and brown male educators whose mission is to improve outcomes for youth by increasing the number of professionals who are men of color in the k-12 school systems of Western MA. It is Vilenti’s passion to provide educational opportunities that meet the needs of all students, specifically the underserved and overlooked populations of students. Vilenti holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at Westfield State University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from American International College, and is a doctoral candidate at American International College.
