Dr. Hugh Galligan of Norwood Senior High School
Named 2023 MSAA High School Principal of the Year

The Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association (MSAA) is pleased to announce that Dr. Hugh Galligan, Principal of Norwood Senior High School, has been selected as the 2023 MSAA High School Principal of the Year.

This program annually recognizes high school principals who demonstrate exemplary skills in instructional leadership, supporting a safe learning environment and fostering a collaborative culture of shared decision making among all members of their school community.

When informed of this honor, Dr. Galligan responded, “I am extremely humbled and honored to be selected for this incredible award.  This is really an award for the staff, students and families of Norwood High and Norwood Public Schools, and is a recognition for their hard work.  I am truly grateful for their unwavering support and commitment each day that allows for our continued progress.  Additionally, I am blessed to have so many mentors and colleagues, both presently and in the past, who have taught me so much.  Finally, thank you to my amazing family who has supported me every step of the way, demonstrating patience, love and sacrifice.”

Dr. Galligan lives in Dedham with his wife Meg, and their two children Hugh (age 8) and Tommy (age 6).  As a family, they like to travel to the mountains of Vermont as much as possible to enjoy hiking, biking and skiing.

Recognizing the importance of Dr. Galligan’s influence on the members of the Norwood Senior High School community, the Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association (MSAA) will present him with the 44th Bertram H. Holland Award in late July at their annual Summer Leadership Institute, to be held at the Hotel 1620 in Plymouth Harbor.  Dr. Galligan will also be honored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) in Washington D.C. at the Principals Institute in September 2022.
