Michelle Melick of Cameron Middle School in Framingham
Named 2023 MSAA Middle School Principal of the Year
The Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association (MSAA) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Michelle Melick has been selected as the MSAA Middle School Principal of the Year.
This program annually recognizes middle school principals who demonstrate exemplary skills in instructional leadership, supporting a safe learning environment and fostering a collaborative culture of shared decision making among all members of their school community.
Mrs. Melick offered these words immediately after hearing the news. “This award is a reflection of the incredible staff, students and families I work with each day. Our work has been so challenging over the past two years due to Covid, but because of the collaborative efforts of the Cameron community we have continued to grow and thrive, despite the difficult times. I am humbled and honored to receive this award and want to thank the people I work with each and every day. I also want to thank my supportive family, who understand how very important this work is to me. It’s really quite a feeling to be recognized for doing something you love to do.”
Mrs. Melick lives in Sudbury with her husband Scott, daughter Caroline (16) and mother in law, Jane. Her daughter Emily (24) is an engineer in Illinois and her son Will (22) is a senior at the University of Delaware, graduating with a mechanical engineering degree at the end of May. As a family, they enjoy spending time at their cabin in Mid-Coast Maine.
Recognizing the importance of Mrs. Melick’s influence on members of the Cameron Middle School community, the Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association (MSAA) will present her with the 44th Edmund K. Fanning Award, in late July, at their annual MSAA Leadership Institute, to be held at the Hotel 1620 in Plymouth Harbor.
The Massachusetts School Administrators Association represents and supports the interests and needs of 2000+ elementary, middle and high school administrators throughout the Commonwealth.
